Kaitiaki
Guardian
is a patu carved from puriri, one of Aotearoas strongest and enduring native timber.
The word Kaitaki means guardian, someone who observes and protects others. This piece features a wheku engraving which embodies vigilance, mana, challenge and all the Kaitiaki that walk with us like our Tipuna, whanau and the protective forces we carry within ourselves.
This piece is designed to be displayed in two ways allowing the taonga to reflect different states in life. When Facing forward, the wheku stands alert, protecting and guiding you in times of struggle and challenge. When turned back the patu represents peace, with protection still present, but at rest, allowing space for growth and recharge.

CARE & MAINTENANCE
This taonga has been handcrafted from natural timber. Like all living materials, wood responds to its environment and may subtly change over time.
To keep your taonga looking its best:
- Keep it out of prolonged direct sunlight.
- Avoid exposure to excessive moisture, heat, or rapid temperature changes.
- Wipe clean with a soft, dry cloth.
Small marks, colour changes, and the development of character over time are part of the natural journey of the wood and add to the unique story of your taonga.
Treat it with care, and it will continue to carry its story for generations to come
