Fauxnāmū Mere

Fauxnāmū Mere

$700.00

The Fauxnāmū Mere/Patu is a contemporary interpretation of the traditional Māori mere form. While not carved from pounamu, each piece is created with the same care and intention given to any other taonga.

Handcrafted in Aotearoa, New Zealand, these mere honour the silhouette and presence of the traditional weapon, symbolising strength, leadership, and protection.

Crafted from solid surface material and buffed to a smooth polish, the Fauxnāmū Mere offers a contemporary alternative suited for gifting and ceremonial presentation.

Designed as a meaningful gift, this work is well suited to significant milestones, 21st birthdays, weddings, graduations, and other important moments. It is intended as a gesture of acknowledgement and aroha, a physical expression of pride, honour, and support.

Each piece is made to order so please allow at least 1-3 weeks for turnover. They are individually shaped and finished by hand, ensuring subtle variations and individuality within each piece.

CARE & MAINTENANCE

This taonga has been handcrafted from natural timber. Like all living materials, wood responds to its environment and may subtly change over time.

To keep your taonga looking its best:

  • Keep it out of prolonged direct sunlight.
  • Avoid exposure to excessive moisture, heat, or rapid temperature changes.
  • Wipe clean with a soft, dry cloth.

Small marks, colour changes, and the development of character over time are part of the natural journey of the wood and add to the unique story of your taonga.

Treat it with care, and it will continue to carry its story for generations to come
